A city of contrasts
Urban Resonance begins with impressions of Hong Kong: old and new, worn and bustling, busy and quiet. The coexistence of different cultures and rhythms provides the starting point for this audiovisual exploration.
The initial proposal imagined dividing street footage from different locations into fragments, selecting parts, and playing them together as a moving collage.
From street footage to audiovisual form
During filming, sound became an increasingly important part of the project. The direction shifted toward using audio visualization and generated sound to express impressions of the city.
Working in Max/MSP, the project explores transformations between footage, sound, and abstract imagery. The film presents the resulting visual treatment; the recording below documents the system in operation.
